      Arc en Ciel, France

Play on the Rainbow at the IME De Montaury Base playground

The Arc en Ciel Park, whose name translates to "Rainbow," serves as a beacon of inclusivity and joy. Located within the IME de Montaury base in Nîmes, this playground is part of a center run by the French Red Cross, dedicated to the care and support of children with multiple disabilities. The facility's mission revolves around creating nurturing environments that cater to the unique needs of these children, and Arc en Ciel is a testament to that vision.

In celebration of their 100th anniversary, the IME de Montaury embarked on a significant renovation project aimed at enhancing their spaces for the children they serve. Recognizing the importance of play as a tool for learning, therapy, and emotional wellbeing, they decided to include HAGS playground as a centerpiece of their renovation efforts.

The Arc en Ciel playground was carefully designed with a focus on accessibility, inclusion, and sensory play. The selection of equipment ensures that children of all abilities can engage, whether through tactile exploration, auditory stimulation, or gentle motion. Special consideration was given to creating a space that fosters interaction and encourages socialization, enabling children to play alongside their peers in a safe and supportive environment.

The design features games and activities specifically adapted for children with disabilities, emphasizing sensory experiences such as textures, colors, and sounds. From tactile panels to gently rotating spinners, every element of the playground was chosen to stimulate curiosity and provide therapeutic benefits. The layout is open and accessible, with smooth paths and inclusive play zones to ensure all children, regardless of mobility, can fully participate.

This playground has become more than just a play area; it is a vital resource for the center, helping to enhance the physical, cognitive, and emotional development of the children. It embodies the spirit of the French Red Cross’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity in their care for children with disabilities, creating moments of happiness and connection that resonate far beyond the playground itself.
