HAGS Academy
Through the HAGS Academy, we offer different courses focusing on inclusivity and the operation & maintenance of playgrounds.
The basic course is a good and solid start for increased understanding and is suitable for anyone who works with playground equipment in any way, regardless of whether you plan, install, control or manage the daily operation of playgrounds. The in-depth course is mainly aimed at those who want to learn more and who may have a future certification as a goal. The fitness training is aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about general requirements for outdoor gym equipment. Course leader is Janne Wahlstedt, safety manager at HAGS. With approx. 30 years of experience in playground safety.
We also offer a course on playground accessability. In this course you will learn what makes a playground accessible and tips and tricks on what easy measures you can take to make your existing playground more accessible for everyone, no matter disabillity! Course leader is Helen Bergander, accessability coordinator at HAGS.
Courses in playground inspection
For 76 years, we at HAGS have had the pleasure of working with play in all its forms. This long experience has given us invaluable knowledge, not only about how to manufacture playground equipment and create appreciated playgrounds, but also the importance of safety considerations and continuous maintenance of playgrounds.
During the training, you gain knowledge and understanding of current laws, regulations, current standards, how they are applied, the importance of operating and maintenance routines, how to draw up protocols and much more. After completing our training, you can carry out routine and functional inspections of playground equipment yourself.
Experts in playground safety
We actually dare to say that we are experts in the field. Since 1989, we have continuously trained thousands of people who work with safety in various forms on playgrounds. In order to secure value, develop and simplify, we have packaged our accumulated knowledge and solid experience under a common umbrella - HAGS Academy.
The aim is to continue to inspire and share that knowledge with you, but it is at least as important to constantly educate ourselves. In this way, we can together create accessible and safe playgrounds with great play value for our children and young people in the outdoor environments of schools, preschools and all other places intended for play.
Becoming a certified inspector
HAGS Academy does not carry out any personal certification to carry out inspections. An external, independent certified inspector participates in the Basic course and he shares his many years of inspection experience. For many who complete our trainings, this is a start to later becoming a certified playground equipment inspector. HAGS recommends that installation inspections and annual playground inspections are always carried out by a certified inspector. Personal certification is carried out by RISE, department for certification.
