Basic course in playground safety and maintenance

The course is aimed at those who have an interest and need to learn more about safety on playgrounds. Maybe you work with planning, installing or managing a playground? Are you responsible for care and maintenance, or will you carry out supervision/inspection of playgrounds? - Then this is the course for you! You don't need any prior knowledge for the basic course. Together we will go through both theoretical and practical aspects. The practical parts are carried out in small groups. We visit several outdoor playgrounds regardless of the weather, so remember to bring clothes according to the weather. One of the course leaders is HAGS's safety manager, Janne Wahlstedt, a certified inspector with more than 35 years of experience working with the construction and maintenance of outdoor environments and playground equipment. Janne is a popular lecturer who shares his knowledge and experience in an educational and inspiring way.

Our aim is that, after the end of the course, you should be able to supervise and check playgrounds independently or in a group. You will also be able to interpret carried out inspection reports and identify any errors and deficiencies, as well as understand the importance of following directions and instructions when assembling and building playgrounds. You are familiar with Swedish laws and regulations for playgrounds, as well as how the Swedish Standard 1176 serves as an aid in the work with operation and maintenance to ensure measures of unacceptable risks when children play in play equipment.

Do you want to become a certified inspector?

HAGS Academy does not perform any personal certification. HAGS's course certificate is not proof of competence for inspection of playground equipment. It is not credible to both train and then test skills and carry out personal certification. According to HAGS, this is a very important issue of credibility.
If your goal is to become a certified inspector for playground equipment, then contact RISE who will perform the theoretical and practical tests that form the basis of a possible approved result and thereby obtain a certificate with a 5-year validity that proves that you are a competent person to perform installation or annual inspections.
