Course in safety and maintenance of outdoor gyms
HAGS Academy offers a course in safety and maintenance of outdoor gyms. Our goal is that, after the end of the course, you understand the definition of outdoor gym, and when this standard will be fully used as a requirements document. The line between playground equipment and outdoor gym equipment is not always completely obvious. HAGS safety manager Janne Wahlstedt guides you through what is important to be aware of during planning, installation, operation and control.
The course is for you who plan, assemble, manage, perform care and maintenance, or will perform supervision/inspection of outdoor gyms. Given the current circumstances, the autumn course will be a distance education. We meet via Teams and go through the theoretical parts. You do not need to have Teams installed on your computer, but a good internet connection is required. The practical steps are carried out by each individual. Two weeks after the course, we have a follow-up meeting where we go through questions and concerns that may have arisen.

Course Content
- Applicable Swedish laws and regulations for outdoor gyms.
- Thorough review of the requirements in the Swedish Standard for outdoor gyms (SSEN-16630).
- Exercises to learn how to use and understand SSEN-16630.
- Certified inspector shares his knowledge and experience.
- Outdoor gym - exercise equipment or play equipment?
- Basic knowledge of sample probes.
- Exercises regarding performing risk analyzes and error descriptions.
Do you want to become a certified inspector?
HAGS Academy does not perform any personal certification. HAGS's course certificate is not proof of competence for inspection of outdoor gym equipment. It is not credible to both train and then test skills and carry out personal certification. According to HAGS, this is a very important issue of credibility.
If your goal is to become a certified inspector for outdoor gym equipment, then contact RISE who will perform the theoretical and practical tests that form the basis of a possible approved result and thereby obtain a certificate with a 5-year validity that proves that you are a competent person to perform installation or annual inspections.
